So far we’ve had to do a couple of things to get the game to run smoothly. One of the obvious solutions would be to just make a save before the last two scenes of the conversation with the Zabrak and the Wh*re, and reload that saved game rather than playing through the KOTOR2 installer scene. But it’s a little dirty and hacksome, so lets try a different approach.

Follow the steps you took to get the Spirit of Mandalore, then make a new character (or use the existing one you used when you first got to the Enclave) and level up to 4. Level 4 is very important at this point, since you’re learning to Stealth Cloak while on foot. Once you’ve learned the stealth, kill the next second fake target on the map (you’ll see that you’re on Dantooine for this), and go to the one after that for the bonus gear. Save/AutoSave after each fight is very important – talk to the vendor after every fight to see if you want to sell your bounty.

And its a pretty good deal, too, since you can get a full game like KOTOR for like 30 bucks. KOTOR 2: The KotOR Bundle has all the DLC at a discount, though, and it is well worth it. The reboot of the KOTOR series was a good transition; unlike KotOR 3, which was clearly designed to appeal to new fans, KOTOR 2 is a straight remake of the original game that does a good job. Adding some new bits and pieces for the modern gamer doesn’t really detract from the game. I was pleasantly surprised how well the story translated to a modern audience, keeping the core character arcs and themes the same but making it more relatable for a new audience. It worked great.
