The fluid mechanic is the branch of mechanics that deals with the static and dynamic properties of fluids, in particular, laminar flow, turbulence, mixture, flow visualization, boundary layers, boundary condition effects, thermodynamics and heat transfer, wetting and imbibition, and the like. A mathematical model for steady flow in a pipe with axisymmetric geometry is developed. This model is based on the approach described in the book *Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Power Engineering* by D. Kumar. An attempt is made to understand the influences of wall temperature and Reynolds number on the heat transfer rate. The influence of the dimensionless porosity on the heat transfer rate is also studied. In order to determine heat transfer coefficient from a mathematical model, an estimation of the overall area of fluid flowing is required. For a constant diameter and length of the pipe, it is not possible to find such area for a steady flow. Thus, it is assumed that the area is equal to the cross-sectional area of a fluid particle flowing at some high Reynolds number. Because of the independence of the fluid particle velocity with axial distance and the fact that the area is constant for the flow, a constant value of the heat transfer coefficient is obtained. A comparison is made with an existing result for the heat transfer coefficient for a fluid particle passing through a circular tube with a uniform permeability in the absence of a flow. The influence of Reynolds number and the wall temperature on the heat transfer coefficient is also studied. Bejan number is plotted for varying Reynolds number under different wall temperatures for both cases of heating and cooling. Theoretical and experimental results are compared and the impact of the wall temperature on the heat transfer coefficient is discussed.
